Some NABCO Applicants may receive more than GHS 700 as stipend
Check Page 2 of your NABCO Contract
If you applied for NABCO, and you have everything going right for you, then there is more good news for you.
Earlier this year, the president of Ghana said the GHS 700 NABCO stipend will restore jobless graduates’ dignity.
You should know that NABCO is a modest, but important beginning towards the restoration of their dignity, he said.
Beneficiaries will also receive continuous skills training, and retraining on the job, both to equip and guide their future career paths.
Well, that is something we still wait to see. However, today, I bring to you something interesting from the NABCO Contract.
A look at the NABCO Contract
If you have been verified and you don’t have all of those pending stuff, then you should have read through your contract several times already.
The 5-page document talks a lot and I recently came across this clause after someone pointed it out in one of the NABCO groups I am in.
Read the sections below and let’s continue. Pay particular attention to the phrases in bold.
Stipends
The NABCO will pay you stipends of GHS700.00 (Seven Hundred Ghana Cedis) month, payable in accordance with NABCO’s standard payroll schedule, beginning end of October 2018 and you will receive your first payment through your e-Zwich card.
This stipend is not subject to adjustment during your engagement period of 3 years unless otherwise directed by the Government of Ghana through NABCO’s National Secretariat.
Bonus (or commission)
The Nation Builders Corps does not pay bonuses or commissions of any kind.
Your module employment agency may, however, have in place such policies which you may be eligible. Your Module Employer will specify this when you report for work.
How can you get an extra bonus or commision?
Well, as you might have read already, it all depends on where you are employed. Hopefully, some “big big” employers will make them possible.
Also, there is a school of thought that says that some people who will be working at places where overtime is most needed (like hospitals) will be those to enjoy the bonus.
A few skeptical individuals have also suggested that the part that talks about bonus is just a stunt to keep people motivated and nothing really will be given to anyone.
However, the situation, what we NABCO applicants want is to get the full GHS 700 first, since the rumours that even that one is going to be taxed is scary.
