WAEC Suspends WASSCE 2020 Timetable until further notice
The West African Examinations Council has announced that the WASSCE 2020 timetable has been suspended until further notice.
The suspension is due to to the highly contagious Coronavirus in Ghana which has affected up to 16 people as at the time of publication.
This was released in an inter-office memorandum that Asetena.com has received.
Here are snippets of the statement:
Our memorandum referenced REG.4.01WASSCE/XXIU202 dated March 19. 2020 on the
above-mentioned subject refers.
The negative impact of the novel and deadly COVID-l9 pandemic and the subsequent protocols put in place by governments of member countries to prevent the spread of the disease have serious implications for the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates, 2020 as agreed by the National Offices.
Please note that the proposal from the Secretariat on the need to reschedule WASSCE (SC) 2020 was approved by the Chairman of Council.
Consequently, the Registrar hereby directs that
- the WASSCE (SC) 2020 Timetable be suspended until further notice;
- the conduct of WASSCE (SC) 2020 be put on hold until further notice;
- directives (1) and (2) will be reviewed when the health situation improves.
Kindly note the information for further action and communicate the directives to the Ministry of Education and the general public in your country.
