The Perfect picture was first released in 2009. It chronicles the life of a circle of friends who juggle friendship, relationships, finances, and new complications with family.

Potato Potahto tells the story of a divorced couple forced to continue living together. Still, their already delicate cohabiting scheme unravels when they begin dating other people.

Beast of No Nation

Beast of No Nation is one of Ghana’s most successful movies, having won the NME Award for Best Film in 2016, the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Independent Motion Picture the same year, and Nigeria Entertainment Award for Best Picture. The drama tells the story of a fierce warlord played by Idris Elba, who trains a young orphan to join his group of guerrilla soldiers during civil war.

Beast of No Nation was released on 3rd September 2015 and directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. The movie stars other great Ghanaian actors and actresses like Abraham Attah, Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, Ama K Abrebrese, and Kobina Amissah-Sam.

Like Cotton Twines

Trokosi is a prevailing cultural practice in Ghana, where young women are given as brides to gods and their intermediaries. “Like Cotton Twines,” tells the story of an American teacher in a Ghanaian village who is fighting religious and social traditions to prevent his most promising student from becoming a sex slave.

This is a Leila Djansi film starring Jay Ellis, Ophelia Klenam Dzidzornu, Yvonne Okoro, Adjetey Anang, David Dontoh and others.

Netflix is working on adding more Ghanaian movies to its list on the application. A year ago, there were movies like Azali, The Burial of Kojo, Sankofa, Keteke, and Side Chic Gang. Hopefully, Netflix will bring them back, add new ones, and help put the Ghanaian movie industry there. Who knows?
