The drama tells the story of a fierce warlord played by Idris Elba, who trains a young orphan to join his group of guerrilla soldiers during civil war.

Trokosi is a prevailing cultural practice in Ghana, where young women are given as brides to gods and their intermediaries. “Like Cotton Twines,” tells the story of an American teacher in a Ghanaian village who is fighting religious and social traditions to prevent his most promising student from becoming a sex slave.
