National Service (NSS) Releases 2019/2020 Postings
The National Service Scheme (NSS) has deployed 77,962 prospective service persons to user agencies across the country for the 2019/2020 service year.
Out of the number, 66,348, representing 85.1%, were posted to public institutions whereas 11,614, constituting 14.9%, were deployed to private user agencies.
Consequently, 6,000 persons were deployed to support the Agricultural Sector including government’s Planting for Food and Job Policy.
Also, 2,000 personnel have been deployed to support the introduction of the Entrepreneurship programme in poultry production with a focus on all the value chains in poultry production.
The Greater Accra Region received the highest number of 29,057 service persons, while the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions followed with 13,628 and 5,774, respectively.
The Upper East and Upper West regions however recorded low requests but the Scheme says that it is working to ‘shore up the numbers in the two regions with late registrations and postings in due course’.
At a news conference in Accra on Monday to announce the postings, Executive Director of the NSS, Mustapha Ussif, noted that prospective service personnel cannot print out the appointment letters until Friday, July 19.
Posting Registration
Postings registration will commence at all Regional Centres across the country from Monday, 22nd July 2019 and end on Friday, 30th August 2018.
The Scheme says that the period is provided to give service personnel sufficient time to go through the registration processes before they formally begin their national service on Monday, 2nd September 2019.
Prospective service persons are to visit the Scheme’s website to check their posting.
