How to Join the US Military from Ghana
The US Military has six branches the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Space Force. You have the opportunity to join any of these services if you qualify for it, and the benefits of doing so are numerous.
You cannot join the military while staying in Ghana, but you can still enlist if you are not a citizen; however, you will have to meet specific requirements. You will need to make your way to the US, establish residence and apply to the US military as a non-citizen.
Suppose you qualify and are accepted into the service. In that case, you will not be allowed to become a commissioned officer or have a security clearance until you become a citizen.
To begin, you need to meet the following basic requirements;
To join the US army as a non-citizen, you have to live in any of the States currently.
You need to visit immigration to attain a permanent resident card, also known as a green card.
You must also be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
This means that you cannot apply to enlist in the military from Ghana or while staying in Ghana. You will need to be currently living in the US to be able to do so. You also need to meet a few educational and testing requirements before enlisting.
First, you must take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test. This test has ten subsets;
Your scores on four of those make up your Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) score. This score determines which branch(es) you may join, and each department has its own lowest score for joining.
Your scores on all ten subsets determine which job specialties you qualify for
You must have a high school diploma or a GED to enlist.
The ASVAB test comes in different subjects. It tests your knowledge of general science, arithmetic reasoning, word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, mathematics knowledge, assembling objects, mechanical comprehension, shop information, electronic information, and auto information.

Health and Fitness Test
Finally, you will need to meet some health and fitness requirements for enlisting. You must pass a military entrance medical examination, including a physical exam, hearing test, vision test, and height and weight measurements.
Each military service has its physical requirements and fitness standard.
Once you meet the requirements listed above, you can enlist to join any military service you want. You must not be above the age of 39 to join the military. Once you are accepted, you will take the oath of enlistment, and from there, you will receive orders for training.
