GES Opens the 2023 School Selection Portal for BECE Candidates

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has inaugurated the 2023 School Selection Portal for candidates of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), both from public and private schools.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will manage the portal, which will be accessible from October 3, 2023, to October 24, 2023. During this period, candidates can choose their preferred schools for the 2023 academic year.
Candidates who participated in the 2023 private BECE, also referred to as BECE NovDec, can log in at https://www.waecinternetsolution.org using their student ID number and date of birth.
GES has made it clear that there will be no deadline extensions for this exercise.
Official Statement from GES
In an official letter, GES management stated that the portal is open for both public and private BECE candidates to make their school selections for 2023. Regional Directors have been asked to disseminate this information to local educational authorities to ensure the process is completed within the given timeframe.
"Management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to inform you that the School Selection Portal opened by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for both BECE 2023 School and Private Candidates to enable them select their schools online for 2023 placement.
The exercise commences from 3rd to 24th October, 2023.
Private BECE Candidates are to visit https://www.waecinternetsolution.org to select their Second Cycle Schools using their Index Number and Date of Birth as Login ID and Password respectively.
By this letter, Regional Directors are kindly requested to communicate this information to the Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education to ensure effective supervision and monitoring for a successful completion of the exercise within the stipulated time.

The grading system for the 2023 BECE does not include a ‘Fail’ grade. Instead, the lowest grade is indicated as such. The grading scale ranges from 1, the highest grade, to 9, the lowest.
