The concept of the Single Spine Salary was introduced in 2009 by the government of Ghana as part of an overall public sector reform agenda.

Prior to its implementation, there was a lack of uniformity in salary structures, leading to disparities and dissatisfaction among employees. The Single Spine Salary Structure was designed to address these issues and create a more equitable system.

2023 Single Spine Salary release

The Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) for
Public Workers/Government Workers for 2023 has been released after finalizing the 2023 Base Pay increment.

Take note that the Net Salary excludes Income after SSF and Tax but before deductions like Loans, Union deductions, etc. Relief and Allowance such as Night, Fuel, Rent, etc is not part of the computation.

Payment dates for government workers

January salaries for the Government of Ghana workers will be paid on the 24th with February being paid on the 24th.

Salaries for March and April will be paid on the 28th and 25th respectively.

May will be paid on 26th with June being paid on the 27th.

Government of Ghana workers will also receive their July and August salaries on the 27th and 25th respectively of each month.

September is on the 26th, whiles October is also scheduled for the 25th, and November 26th with December being on the 20th.
