The concept of the Single Spine Salary was introduced in 2009 by the government of Ghana as part of an overall public sector reform agenda.
Prior to its implementation, there was a lack of uniformity in salary structures, leading to disparities and dissatisfaction among employees. The Single Spine Salary Structure was designed to address these issues and create a more equitable system.
